Baylie For Brains - Raising Money for Research

Just like our children, our dreams start out small but extremely meaningful and grow over time as we grow and discover what our capabilities truly are. My little man was diagnosed with a Chiari I Malformation when he was just 2 years old (February 2004) and we didn't know his future although we held onto our dreams for him and knew that as he grew, those dreams would grow too! Matthew's condition was so severe that surgery was the only option. He came through surgery and has made an amazing recovery. So far Matthew, at age 6, has lived a typical little boy's life with Mommy watching carefully when he gets a bit rowdy. He is monitored by a neurologist at Johns Hopkins and is also being followed by the neurosurgeon that performed his decompression, Dr. Patricia Mancuso withe Lonestar Neurosurgery in San Antonio, Texas. Thank God for the medical professionals that have the talent, skill and will to treat our children and make them better.

Matthew and I want to introduce Baylie, she is a very strong little girl with some very big dreams. Baylie is 9 years old and was diagnosed with a Chiari in Febuary of 2000 and a Pseudotumor Cerebri in June of 2004. Baylie has had multiple surgeries since being diagnosed. Baylie has taken her pain and frustration and turned it into a positive mission, raising money for research. She is treated by Dr. Frim at the University of Chicago Children's Hospital. Baylie's goal is to raise 1 million dollars for research! So far she has raised $144,000! Baylie and a whole lot of friends and parents who care about this cause donate their time to making beaded bracelets and selling them. She also has some awesome t-shirts for sale. I invite you to visit http://www.baylieforbrains.com/ to read more about Baylie, her journey to date living with these conditions and just how
accomplished she already is in her own right. Also, send your well wishes to Baylie and her biggest supporters, her family!
